Windsurfing: Worthing Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: LT@midday Surf / Sea State: Session time=3.30-6pm Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny spells Max Speed: Distance Covered:
2nd session of the day. As I was driving from Hove to Worthing a shower
passed over and a strong smell of a big drop in the wind appeared. And
indeed when I arrived at the cafe - feck all. However I was certain the
wind would return so I chilled on a sea front bench and kept an eye on a
couple of sailors who were still out blobbing a short way upwind. Sure
enough after not very long they both started to plane so I rushed back to
the van and rigged the 5.8 again.
By the time I got to the water the wind had kicked in hard and to start
with it was very nice. Not too much chop, perfectly powered and loving
being out in the sunshine. The wind continued to increase though and soon I
was seriously stacked. However I really couldn't be arsed to change down so
I just increased downhaul and hung on. I was never properly overpowered and
the result was frequent airtime plus fully planing gybes a plenty.
Eeexcellent. :)
Alas this session had a sting in its tail. About half way through I landed
a whopper badly and as I fell off my right foot got stuck and horribly
twisted in its strap. Immediately my thoughts turned to the similar
incident two years ago
(http://www.forces-of-nature.co.uk/dbdriven/diary/diary.php?action=viewentr
ydetails&diaryid=4139&diaryuser=Harry) but of course I carried on sailing.
Just like last time, pain free, until about 6 hours later, then within no
time I could barely walk. Fortunately after a couple of paracetamol no trip
to A&E was required but I fear that I may be off the water for a few days.
